• Swahili is also known as Kiswahili.
• Swahili is spoken by many people, but the people of Swahili is the Waswahili.
• You can hear Swahili spoken in Kenya, Somalia, all the way down by Tanzania, Madagascar, and Mozambique.  
• Swahili has origins from the Bantu language in the Niger-Congo family of African languages.
• With trade, there is a mix of cultures and of course languages, so that’s how Swahili has some mixture with Arabic as well.
